PURPOSE – SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER

The Supply Chain Project Manager role in IT Solutions will facilitate the delivery of key critical projects within Supply Chain as part of a dynamic, attentive and diligent team of Project Managers. This will be achieved through managing the prioritised pipeline of projects within the Supply Chain stream, effectively allocating resource across different stream projects and ensuring that Projects deliver successfully from Inception through to Transition. The Supply Chain Project Manager will ensure that the established Project Management Ways of Working are applied on all projects and encourage its adoption and discipline across the IT and Business landscape.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Understand the technical landscape across different delivery work streams, anticipating where there is likely to be interdependencies across systems or work streams.
•    Manage projects end to end with various technical components across different platforms.
•    Able to meet demand and plan own capacity accordingly to ensure releases are not compromised.
•    Ensure the development teams are fully utilised to maximise delivery to market of business initiatives.
•    Work closely with the Business Project Manager to ensure one overall project plan is delivered that encompasses both Business & IT tasks
•    Adopt a structured approach to rolling out all new software, which is efficient and effective.
•    Plan, manage and stabilise project releases using an agile or waterfall approach where appropriate.
•    Obtain appropriate relevant business and technical approval, documented for audit purposes.
•    Collaborate with Project Managers, Technical Architects, Test Managers and Developers in the definition and
Breakdown of business & technical requirements, ensuring fully understood by all and smoothly transitioned.
•    Focus on the stabilisation of releases, conducting post- release reviews to ensure any release issues are minimised/ eliminated for upcoming releases.
•    Communication of release plans are fundamental in this role, ensure all parties are aligned and in agreement.
•    Ensure that projects are prioritised in the stream pipeline.
•    Create and deliver project plan on time and to budget.
•    Ensure the project plan is communicated and understood by relevant stakeholder, project team and other involved parties.
•    Ability to coordinate development and plan releases with offshore, near shore and onshore teams.
•    Manage the expectations of all stakeholders including Supply Chain, Retail, Finance, HR, E-commerce & Product teams.
•    Tracking performance based on capacity and commitment to the delivery.
•    Support the Change Request process including analysis of possible solutions, resource, cost and schedule planning against projects already in flight or prioritised.
•    Clear articulation of risks, issues & confidence levels to the wider IT and Business teams
•    Ensure projects flow seamlessly into the development team based on the Project Pipeline.
•    Adhering to the Delivery Framework and Project Management Ways of Working.
•    Coordinate development, integration and production tasks in parallel with relevant teams- internally and externally.
•    Work within the Project Management Team to develop the growth the Project Management competency across the organisation.
•    Provide direction and structure for each project, establishing clear and precise goals and objectives for the teams.
•    Engage support teams at Discovery and provide a meaningful transition of project to the relevant support teams upon project realisation.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in managing Medium to large projects with a varied technical landscape
  • Supply Chain and Logistics experience desirable
  • Experience working for a retail company within IT
  • Excellent communication skills- oral and written
  • Ability to work independently and well under pressure
  • Experience of working in a complex environment with multiple business units
  • Previous experience of managing on/offshore developers.
  • Experience in managing projects end to end across multiple technical systems and platforms
  • Experience and understanding of the Agile Methodology and able to apply where relevant
  • Experience and understanding of the Waterfall Methodology and able to apply where relevant
  • Expert planning and estimation techniques
  • Strong financial & project costing skills
  • Experience using Jira is desirable
  • Good Knowledge of Enterprise systems

 

PURPOSE – FINANCE MANAGER

The Finance Project Manager role in IT Solutions will facilitate the delivery of key critical Financial IT projects within a dynamic, attentive and diligent team of Project Managers. This will be achieved through managing the prioritised pipeline of projects within the Finance stream, effectively allocating resource into multiple projects and ensuring that Projects deliver successfully from Inception through to transition, measured against stream KPI’s and objectives. The Finance Project Manager will ensure that the established Project Management Ways of Working are applied on all projects and encourage its adoption and discipline across the IT and Business landscape.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that projects that are prioritized in the stream pipeline
  • Create and deliver project plan on time and to budget
  • Ensure the project plan is communicated and understood by relevant stakeholder, project team and other involved parties
  • Execute projects against an iteration model with clear release planning
  • Manage the expectations of all stakeholders including Corporate & Operational Finance, Supply Chain, Ecommerce, HR, and Retail
  • Manage projects end to end with various technical components across different platforms
  • Ensure the development teams are fully utilised to maximise delivery to market of business initiatives
  • Tracking performance based on capacity and commitment to the delivery
  • Managing project resource that consist of external consultants and offshore delivery teams across the technical stack
  • Support the Change Request process including analysis of possible solutions, resource, cost and schedule planning against projects already in flight or prioritised
  • Clear articulation of risks and issues to the wider IT and Business teams
  • Ensure projects flow in seamlessly into the development team based on the Project Pipeline
  • Provide accurate cost estimation and timelines by following established best practices, Delivery Framework & Principles
  • Adhering to the Delivery Framework and Project Management Ways of Working
  • Working closely with other Project Managers across the IT Landscape to mitigate risk and highlight and cross project dependencies
  • Coordinate development, integration and production tasks in parallel with relevant teams- internally and externally
  • Work within the Project Management Team to develop the growth the Project Management competency across the organistion
  • Provide direction and structure for each project, establishing clear and precise goals and objectives
  • Control the Delivery plan mitigating risk and removing blockers
  • Engage support teams at Discovery and provide a meaningful transition of project to the relevant support teams upon project realisation.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in managing Medium to large projects with a varied technical landscape
  • Strong Financial domain knowledge in Accountancy, Finance Management, General Ledger processes and SAP to build instant credibility.
  • Experience with managing Global cross-functional teams end to end.
  • Experience working for a retail company within IT is desirable
