Our SAP Projects and Programmes are becoming significantly larger, as we undertake full scope ‘ERP’ projects with S/4 HANA Suite rather than niche solutions that were the building blocks of our heritage. Project Management and Risk Management are now at the top of our agenda to industrialise and imbed into the business at all levels. We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to build out this Project Management discipline and method across the business and to build a team of Project Managers.

This role is to create the environment and approach to project definition, inception and progress on a consistent basis across the business and to ensure there is robust risk management and progress monitoring. The role will be within the leadership team and report directly to the MD of Consulting.

The Project Management function is responsible for leading, planning and delivering SAP related projects, which will vary in size, subject matter, industry sectors and geography.  The Project Managers will be expected to manage project engagements ranging from a single, large, complex project to a number of less complex projects. The Project Manager will be the single point of contact for the engagement delivery with customers and will take full responsibility for building the relationship with the customer and managing the delivery engagement to agreed contract scope.

The Head of Programs and Project Delivery will be tasked with building out this function in the business, recruiting team members and to personally being involved in key projects at least in the short term.

The Project Management function will also be responsible for project profitability following agreement to the project sign off and budget and therefore has full control of project scope and management of change requests to project scope.

Key Tasks

  • Ensure an appropriate risk monitoring approach is put in place
  • Ensure a suitable governance methodology built around Activate is consistently adopted
  • Develop consistent project progress reporting method
  • Develop project profitability reporting with CFO
  • Consistent approach to Communication and Stakeholder Management with the customer
  • Project Management sign-off to proposals
  • Co-ordination and communication across the Delivery teams to ensure correct allocation and usage of resources
  • Day to day management of resources allocated to manage projects.
  • Project billing, estimate to complete tracking and profitability reporting
  • Project input to pre-sales activity, as required by the Pre- Sales team
  • Communication and collaboration with the client delivery team to ensure consistent project communication with the customer
  • Communication and collaboration with Client Directors as required
  • Verification of Project Plans developed during the Pre-Sales process to ensure satisfactory delivery can be achieved.
  • Work closely with SAP as required. Many of AgilityWorks projects are with new product sets and it is important to establish and maintain a close working relationship with SAP.
  • Commercial discussions with senior client stakeholders
  • Discovery of opportunities to introduce further services and offerings

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Building project governance / method / reporting frameworks and approaches
  • Building a project management team
  • Comprehensive SAP background including ‘ERP’ projects
  • Extensive Project Management experience, of which a significant proportion must be in SAP
  • Experience in or knowledge of Activate or Agile methodology
  • Expert in all aspects of Project Management including Budget, Planning and Risk Management
  • Experienced across a variety of business sectors
  • Expert in the use of planning tools such as MS Project
  • An in-depth experience in the functionality of SAP
  • Experience of implementing SAP Cloud solutions (C4C, Hybris, Success Factors)
  • Experience of implementing S4 HANA or BS on HANA projects
  • Commercial experience in invoking change control and assisting in the upselling further services
  • A background in either SAP Solutions Architecture or Pre- Sales is an advantage
